Professional (or Employment based) visas are divided into immigrant (permanent) and non-immigrant (temporary) categories. Both categories are based on the employment of the visa applicant by a U.S. company (the petitioner), are subject to yearly numerical limitations, and require employment authorization by the U.S. Department of Labor.
